The Education Department

The Education Department of Framingham State College strives to prepare its students for one of the worthiest and noblest of careers, the teaching profession. In order to achieve a high standard of excellence, the members of our Department encourage the development of teachers who value scholarship, integrity, commitment, and enthusiasm. We seek to encourage those students who demonstrate a sensitive, responsive, and caring attitude toward working with children. To meet the growing demands placed on the teaching profession, we cultivate the academic, social and emotional characteristics that we identify with highly competent and successful teachers. These characteristics include the ability to interact effectively with the complexities of schooling, to respond to developmental differences in learners, to employ a variety of materials and instructional methods, and to be effective and innovative leaders.
