Weekly Testing Update – Jan. 7, 2021

Dear FSU Community,

While the bulk of our students are home for winter break, we still have some living on campus and our offices are open. With that in mind, we administered 185 COVID19 tests on Tuesday, Jan. 5th, resulting in five positives. We have no on-campus close contacts. You may note that our 7-day positive test rate jumped to 2.7%, which is partially due to the small number of tests that have been administered. All of our latest data is now viewable on our COVID19 Dashboard.

We anticipate some small spikes in positive cases as students and employers return from the holiday break, and having five positives among a relatively small number of tests doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. But it does underscore just how vigilant we are going to have to be moving forward.

I again want to remind students that you need to submit your proof of receiving a flu vaccination through Medicat, if you haven't already. Any student who will be physically on campus for any reason must submit proof of vaccination per the Governors orders.

COVID19 continues to surge around the country. Please take care to keep following the very strictest safety protocols. That includes wearing your masks, practicing good hygiene, practice social distancing, and avoid large gatherings. If you are showing any symptoms of COVID19, no matter how mild, you should contact the Health Center at 508-626-4900.

Stay Safe,

Javier
