The Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance partnered with Metro Community Development Corporation (MCDC) to run the IRS sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Program (VITA) from Feb. 1-April 15. Every year, the Department expects to complete 100-150 tax returns for needy families in our communities. This wonderful community program began in Spring 2020. Five FSU students receive off-site and on-site training and participate in assisting low to moderate income taxpayers in preparing their tax returns. These internship opportunities offer FSU students the opportunity to develop their consulting and coaching skills. Over four years, students have helped more than 500 families, claiming 2M+ tax refunds and tax credits.
