Welcome to the FSU University Police Department, where your safety and security are our top priorities. Our dedicated team of professionals is committed to upholding the laws of the Commonwealth on our vibrant campus, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all. 

Our officers, are sworn Police and Deputy Sheriffs, work tirelessly to patrol the campus 24/7, responding to calls and addressing any concerns that may arise. Each shift is staffed with a minimum of two officers and a dispatcher, providing round-the-clock support. With a focus on collaboration, we actively engage with the University community to coordinate programs and services that promote and enhance campus safety.

About the University Police

The heart of our department lies in its people. Our team comprises fourteen highly trained, sworn, and uniformed Police Officers, complemented by an Institutional Security Officer and three skilled civilian Dispatchers. From rape investigation to CPR, crime scene management to crisis intervention, our officers undergo comprehensive training to handle diverse situations effectively.

For added security, our Institutional Security Officers patrol buildings and grounds, while our surveillance system, equipped with cameras and card access systems, monitors residence hall entrances. Throughout the academic year, desk attendants further contribute to a secure living environment for our students.

FSU Welcomes New Chief of Police, Philip Di Blasi

Dear Framingham State University Community,
 
My name is Philip Di Blasi, I am thrilled to serve as your new Chief of Police at Framingham State University and I am truly fortunate and thankful to have this opportunity!
 
I began my career in 1994 as a patrol officer at Suffolk University in Boston. During my tenure with the Suffolk University Police Department, I was promoted to Crime Prevention Officer and later to Patrol Sergeant. After ten years of service, I accepted the position of Lieutenant with the Wellesley College Police Department in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
 
During my time at Wellesley College, I served as co‑chair of the College’s Emergency Management Group. I was also responsible for dignitary protection, officer training and development, and large‑scale event planning. I also worked to develop strong working relationships with Town of Wellesley partners to ensure seamless communication between the College and the Town’s fire and police departments. These relationships proved invaluable during events such as the Boston Marathon, high‑profile dignitary visits, and commencement exercises. In 2020, I was appointed Acting Chief of Police at Wellesley College, and held that role he held until 2022, when I was appointed Chief of Police at MassBay Community College.
 
During my four years at MassBay, I reintegrated the department’s officers into the campus community and established both a police division and a security division, expanding the department from five police officers to a total of eleven personnel. I also enhanced the department’s training curriculum, ensuring officers met and exceeded professional standards comparable to their peers.
 
 Throughout my tenure at MassBay, I prioritized building strong working relationships with the police and fire departments of the City of Framingham, the Town of Ashland, and the Town of Wellesley.
 
I have taught Police Liability, Qualified Immunity, and Fundamentals of the Clery Act at the Special State Police Officers Academy in New Braintree, Massachusetts. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Suffolk University and a Juris Doctor degree from Suffolk University Law School. I am a member of the Massachusetts Bar and sworn to practice before the United States District Court for the First Circuit.
 
I enjoy spending time with my family, baseball, reading, and going to the beach. I have been married to my wife, Tina, for 28 years, and together we have two sons: Philip Jr. (23), and Thomas (14).
 
I am looking forward to working with the FSU Community!
