Introducting the 2024-2025 Arts & Ideas Series: Building Bridges, Not Walls
The theme of the 2025-2026 series is Building Bridges, Not Walls. Our society has always been pluralistic, comprising many different peoples and cultures. Yet we have often emphasized the divisions. Variety often meets with scorn; we shrink from engagement with those who are different. Today many refer to the nation as polarized, with the fear that what separates us may prove irreconcilable. Through our theme, we highlight those who are reaching out to effect change or sustain and create connections. These bonds are all the more important as the United States prepares to mark its 250th anniversary in July 2026. The metaphor of the bridge invites us to think of this moment as a time to reflect on where we have been, where we are today, and where we may be heading in the coming years. You can view all the events in the series at the link below!
