Carolyn R. Maibor, Professor of English, received her Ph.D. in American Literature and Philosophy from Brandeis University.  She is the author of Labor Pains: Emerson, Hawthorne, and Alcott on Work and the Woman Question (New York: Routledge, 2004) as well as scholarly articles on Louisa May Alcott, Emerson, Hawthorne, and Kant, among others.  She specializes in teaching courses in early-nineteenth century American literature, nineteenth century European literature, and African American literature. Dr. Maibor also served as Director of the Commonwealth Honors Program at Framingham State University from 2007-2014.
