Josey Packard is what we call a “maker.” She has had successful careers as a seamstress, carpenter, and flooring installer, among other things. Making things is satisfying when those things require physical dexterity, but that’s not all there is to making stuff. Constructing an excellent academic essay fits, too: writing with insight, clarity, and perspective fits neatly within the genre of “making.” That’s why, while often challenging, writing can also be fun. She received her undergraduate degree from Berklee College of Music, and her Master’s in Editorial Studies from Boston University.
