Dr. Kristin Comment has been a part-time Visiting Lecturer at Framingham State University for more than 20 years. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, where she specialized in nineteenth-century American literature and LGBTQ+ studies. Her scholarship has appeared in Legacy: A Journal of American Women Writers, Early American Literature, English Journal, and Constance Fenimore Woolson’s Nineteenth Century: Essays (2001) and Secret Histories: A New Era in Constance Fenimore Woolson Scholarship (2025). She served one term on the Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ+ Youth (2016-2018) and co-authored a Model Curriculum Unit on teaching LGBTQ+ themes in The Great Gatsby and Willa Cather’s “Paul’s Case” for the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. In 2016, she helped to develop the first LGBTQ+ literature course at Framingham State University.
