Pete Gillies recently assumed the position of Coordinator of Veteran and Military Services at Framingham State University. He previously served as the Coordinator of Community Standards at FSU for two years.

Dr. Gillies is a graduate of the Massachusetts School of Law in Andover, Massachusetts with a Juris Doctor. Licensed in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Connecticut, he had a solo practice since his admission to the bar in 2018, focusing on Veterans advocacy, probate and estate planning law. He continues to practice part-time.

Pete holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from Michigan State University, a Master of Music Degree in Tuba Performance from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and a Doctor of Education Degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

He spent 23 years as an Army tuba player and Bandmaster, commanding bands in Texas, Missouri, North Carolina, Korea, Japan and finishing his career as commander of the Army Materiel Command Band at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer. He is in demand as a guest conductor, performing regularly with Maynard Community Band as Assistant Conductor and the Rivers Symphony as a tuba player.

In addition to his responsibilities at FSU, Pete teaches online classes in Effective Communication and Music Appreciation for St. Joseph’s College in Standish, ME.
