Learning Outcomes

All majors will acquire interpersonal proficiency in the target language reaching an Intermediate High Level (according ACTFL guidelines) in oral and listening proficiency.

All majors will acquire presentational proficiency (according ACTFL guidelines) in the target language reaching an Intermediate High Level of oral and written proficiency.

Students will be able to identify trends and characteristics of the literature of the countries represented.

Students in will be able to identify diverse cultures where the target language is spoken.

All majors will contribute in a meaningful way to the community through civic engagement.

All majors will develop research skills and write a research monograph on a topic of interest related to their concentration
Program Requirements
The General Education Requirement
All students must satisfy a general education requirement consisting of ten (10) courses outside of the major department. The General Education Domain I-C (Language) requirement is satisfied through the completion of the Spanish major.
Course Prerequisites
Courses may have specified conditions for enrollment, such as prior completion of less advanced courses, permission of the instructor, or appropriate placement test scores. Students should refer to course descriptions in the department listings for prerequisite requirements.
A total of twelve (12) courses are required for the Spanish major.

Capstone:
*Note: If the student is placed at the advanced level they should take another Spanish course in the Concentration at the 200-level or above.

Spanish Minor Requirements (5 courses)
- A minimum of five (5) Spanish (SPAN) courses is required for the minor.

Review content for consistency, correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax errors.

Reports the news from another country, including wars to politics to living conditions and more.

Lead classrooms and present academic information at public and private schools
Immigration Specialist
Responsible for helping people achieve legal entry into a country.
National Security Agent
Collect, analyze, and report intelligence that reveals the intentions of foreign governments.
