Center for Inclusive Excellence 

Join the Center for Inclusive Excellence, Black Student Union, and African Student Association for an evening of culture, connection, and celebration. Enjoy authentic African American, Jamaican, Haitian, and Ghanaian cuisine, explore the social impact of hip-hop in a powerful discussion, and learn a series of hip-hop dance moves. It’s a vibrant celebration of Black history, creativity, and community.

Susan Church, the current COO for the Commonwealth’s Office for Refugees and Immigrants (ORI) and a former immigration lawyer with 25 years of experience in immigration law, will give a Know Your Rights (KYR) presentation. The focus of this KYR will be on immigrant and refugee rights considering incoming changes to immigration policy at the federal level. The presentation will include an overview of legal resources for immigrants in the Commonwealth, know your rights resources, and guidance for interaction with immigration officers.

Our theme, From Passion to Purpose, came about as a response to the difficult and uncertain times we find ourselves in. We want to focus on what brings joy and excitement into our lives, how we share this passion with others, and remind us what we do in our personal and professional lives makes a difference. Our three participants will share their personal stories of how they channeled what they love into meaningful work.

Following the stories, we will open it up for discussion. 

Community building, connecting and sharing our stories is the Women’s Affinity group’s passion and we are excited to continue doing so with this upcoming program!

We provide a light lunch of soup, salad, bread, fruit, dessert, coffee and tea at the start of the hour and the opportunity to say hello to colleagues. The hour promises to be interesting, enlightening and delicious.

It is a great way to kick off the fall semester with a night out at the ballpark.
