Daleri Garcia, senior criminology and psychology major, said Wellness Day provides both resources and activities that help campus community members.

“This is honestly one of my favorite events because not only do they provide a bunch of resources but they provide things like lunch and a free message,” Garcia said.

She said events like this help advocate for both Framingham State University’s resources but also SEALS’, which she works for.

Another SEALS member, Makayla Sidnea, a junior marketing major, said SEALS works on mental health and sexual health awareness. She said there was plenty to learn and do at Wellness Day. Some of the activities included playing with clay and getting a massage, she added.

“It’s great for your mental health just to take a break, especially with the stress of classes. It’s really important to make sure you’re taking care of yourself,” Sidnea said.

Marwa Sadiq, sophomore biology major, said she likes the Department of Wellness and Prevention. She had gone to their meditations in the Center for Inclusive Excellence (CIE) before, she added. She would recommend students to go to the CIE for their events and added it is a good way to make friends, she said. She tried some of the games and even the massage, she said.

“Actually it was my first time getting a massage and it was really good and relaxing,” Sadiq said.

There were 10-minute massages available for free, with a licensed massage therapist, throughout the day. There were also a few tables with small gifts, such as bags of tea, stickers, and general fidget toys.

Kimberly Charneski, Well-being coordinator, said Wellness Day is an opportunity to learn about how to improve one’s well-being.

“Stress reduction is such an important part of how we’re navigating our well-being these days, right?” Charneski said.

Part of the goal is to help students get their minds off of what’s worrying them, she said.
