Physical disabilities impact more than mobility; they shape how students access and participate in learning. This session helps faculty develop ways to minimize barriers in the physical layout of the classroom, access and engagement in course activities, assessments, and tech platforms. Learn how to apply UDL concepts, adapt instructional methods and support self-advocacy to make learning spaces more inclusive.
16th Annual Literary Cake Decorating Contest
All are welcome to participate in our 16th annual “Book-themed” cake decorating contest. All you need to do is bake a cake and decorate it to represent a scene or character in a beloved children’s book or your favorite adult book.
(Only one cake per person and no commercially decorated cakes allowed!)
The rules for the event are simple. Register with Colleen Previte at cprevite [at] framingham.edu or x4648, if you wish to participate in the contest. Bring your “Book-themed” decorated cake to the Henry Whittemore Library foyer by 9:00 am, Tuesday, April 21st. Please have your cake properly covered with clear plastic wrap or a container. (This will be taken off when the judging commences). Please do not put your name on your cake; you will be assigned a number for your cake submission. (It would be useful if you bring in a copy of the book your cake is portraying, which we place next to your literary cake creation.)
Judging will run from 9:00 am-12:00 pm. Winners will be announced at 12:30 pm. (or via phone/e-mail) At that time we will cut into these delicious creations and offer them to patrons.
We hope you will consider participating in our Sixteenth Annual Literary Cake Decorating Contest! Thanks - Henry Whittemore Library Staff
Faculty & Staff Arts Crafts Exhibition
The Henry Whittemore Library is excited to announce the return of our annual Faculty and Staff Arts and Crafts Exhibition. We are looking for any arts and crafts to display in the library and would love to feature yours!
Your art will be exhibited for four weeks from roughly April 19 through May 8, 2026.
Prior to the exhibition, the artwork will be stored in the Special Collections Room at the Henry Whittemore Library. The Special Collections Room is normally open 9-5 Monday through Friday. Please notify Colleen Previte - cprevite [at] framingham.edu – 508-626-4648, detailing the day and time you want to drop your art off.
We need your work submitted by Friday, April 10, 2026.
Upon submission, we request that your artwork be labeled with your name, title, department name, and information about the artwork- title, and medium.
All submissions will be displayed on the bulletin boards/walls (for framed and hangable pieces) or in the display cases in the library lobby. Contact Colleen Previte if you have questions about how your work will be displayed and for specific display case dimensions.
We have had many wonderful submissions ranging from photography, painted eggs, jewelry, painted mandala work, diamond art, and crocheted items to paintings and ceramics. We look forward to seeing your arts and crafts and cannot wait to show them to the Framingham State University campus community! Thank you for your participation.
