MetroWest Startup Week 2026
Innovation and Entrepreneur Center - 860 Worcester Road
MetroWest Startup Week: April 27 to May 2nd
Hosted by the Entrepreneur Innovation Center (EIC) of Framingham State University and its partners, MetroWest Startup Week brings founders, dreamers, and doers together for five high-energy days across the region. This isn’t a passive, sit-back conference. It’s a hands-on, community-driven experience designed to help you meet the right people, learn from real stories, and keep moving forward. The week starts with pre-conference visit to the New England Bar and Restaurant Show in Boston on the 26th of April for those that are foodies, and then launches on Monday the 27th with the Taste of MetroWest event put on by our local MetroWest Chamber of Commerce in Framingham. Each of the next four days is chalk full of programming including lectures, talks, panels, and workshops both on at the EIC and on-campus of Framingham State University. Each evening presents an opportunity for networking with an event ranging from happy hours at Jack's Abby, the Danforth Museum of FSU, to a gathering for drinks and chat at Sincere.com, and the FSU Dance Club event or Networking at TechStars Startup Weekend in Boston hosted by Suffolk U on Friday May 1st. Those who want to participate in the Startup Weekend May 1-3 can do so to round out the week, too. " Please register here:

Echoes of the Past: Legacy Effects of Human Land Use
Thursday, April 30, 2026, 6 – 7:30pm, Danforth Art Museum
A Panel Discussion about Rachel Loischild: Quarantine Islands Exhibition and Understanding Land Use Legacies.
Land, in its most basic definition, is the solid surface of the Earth, but for humanity, it’s profoundly more than just terrain. It represents a foundational element upon which cultures are built and identities are shaped. Land use legacies are embedded in the surface of our planet and guide our perceptions of place and community.
For over a decade, artist Rachel Loischild has explored how history imprints itself on the land in her global study of quarantine islands. Her large format photographs draw us into an untamed and largely undeveloped landscape. The sublime beauty of these landscapes does not reveal immediately the land use legacy of these areas. Although the dark past cannot be gleaned from the photographs themselves, her intentional photographic series is a mechanism for discussing the past and understanding our relationship with the land and its legacy. Her photographs turn history into a living force –the past becomes a potential compass for the present.
Join the Danforth Art Museum and a panel of speakers in considering the impact of art and history in shaping our understanding of place, culture, and memory.
