Additional Highlights

The Division of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement, in collaboration with the Center for Inclusive Excellence (CIE), will be hosting Dr. Nalani Butler for an enriching series of workshops focusing around the theme “Unlocking Potential: Sports, Education, and Building Cultural Competency.”

They invite Faculty and Staff to join them on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM, and students on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM for what promises to be thought-provoking and engaging sessions. Dr. Butler's expertise and insights will provide valuable perspectives that are essential for fostering an inclusive and culturally competent community.

Together with local organization Keep Framingham Beautiful, Campus Sustainability will be hosting a Neighborhood & Garden Cleanup day to coincide with international World Cleanup Day on Friday, Sept. 20 from 12:30-2:30pm.  Volunteers are needed to help "close up" the community garden next to the McCarthy Center and to help clean up trash & debris from the streets surrounding our campus. Sign up here to volunteer for a time slot. Let's work together to be custodians of our local ecosystem!

Tuesday, Sept. 24, 6:30 p.m., DPAC

Join us for a special talk with Ms. Rosa Guzman, a former body builder and licensed independent clinical social worker, with Master's in Social Work from Smith College.

Join the Center for Inclusive Excellence (CIE), the Department of American Sign Language (ASL), and the ASL Club, as Ms. Rosa Guzman shares her inspiring story of her determination, discipline, and drive. Despite being deaf, overcoming roadblocks, and experiencing discrimination, Ms. Guzman’s story will inspire and motivate you to rise to the challenge and achieve your goals. An ASL interpreter will be provided.

This event is part of the University's Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month celebrations.

Renée Ater is primary scholar of Meta Warrick Fuller, whose work is in the Danforth Art Museum’s permanent exhibition. As a result of her vision, she highlighted this important African American sculptor and restored her to the history of American art. She also coordinates the Contemporary Monuments to the Slave Past database, which is a model for digital humanities.
