Find our most frequently asked health center questions listed below. 

No, visits are free through student fees. However, we ask that you upload your insurance information to the Medicat Student Health Portal prior to your visit. Any labs sent out (i.e. STI testing, throat cultures, etc.) are billed through your insurance. The Health Center does not have access to any insurance information that you provided to Student Accounts for the insurance waiver.

Yes, any degree seeking student who has paid the health fee (this does not include special programs including the ESL program). Please complete the online health requirements prior to your visit. Please login to the Medicat Student Health Portal to complete these.

Yes. The Health Center clinicians provide gynecological care including: routine gynecological exams, contraception counseling and prescription, diagnosis and treatment of gynecological infections (example: yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis, etc.), UTI diagnosis and treatment, pregnancy testing and referrals

In accordance with the Dean of Students Office’s Absence Notification Policy (http://ramhandbook.com/absence-policy-2/) the Health Center does not provide notes excusing students from class or other academic obligations for brief absences due to illness or injury. We advise students who miss class to communicate directly with their faculty/instructors in a timely manner. Students are encouraged to contact the Dean of Students Office for extended absence support.

X-rays, ultrasounds, other imaging, EKGs and bloodwork are not available onsite. When appropriate the Health Center clinicians can order these and direct you to either Quest Diagnostics or MWMC. Free cab vouchers are available.

The Health Center clinicians can perform some rapid testing such as for strep throat, influenza, COVID-19, pregnancy, urinalysis dipstick and mononucleosis.

The Health Center clinicians do not offer vaccinations. Most local pharmacies provide this service.

The Health Center clinicians can provide you with a lab order for titers. We do not have phlebotomy services onsite. You would go to Quest Diagnostics to have your blood drawn. 

For TB testing, the Health Center clinicians can provide you with a lab order for QuantiFERON. We do not offer TB skin testing. You would go to Quest Diagnostics to have your blood drawn.

No. Framingham State University requires that this is done prior to the start of the semester. The Health Center clinicians can perform preparticipation physicals for athletes who have submitted a prior physical exam performed in the past 18 months. 

  • The Health Center is not an emergency room. If you are experiencing a medical emergency while on campus please call campus police at (508) 626-4911 or if you are off campus please dial 911.
  • The Health Center clinicians do not suture or staple open wounds or perform any type of incision.
  • The Health Center clinicians do not prescribe ADD/ADHD medications.
