Heidi teaches Employment Law for the Master of Human Resources Program at Framingham State University. In addition to teaching part-time at FSU, she is a tenured Professor of Criminal Justice and Government at MassBay Community College, where she also serves as the campus Civic Engagement Coordinator.
In 2022, Heidi received the MassBay Distinguished Faculty Scholarship Award. She has supported several public institutions of higher education in Massachusetts with accreditation compliance, program development, and the facilitation of professional development seminars. With her extensive experience creating curriculum for synchronous, asynchronous, and hybrid courses, Heidi has been instrumental in the evaluation of academic programs and in obtaining state funding for new projects. She is a dedicated advocate for equitable access to higher education, trauma-informed teaching practices, civic literacy, and the creation of courses that cater to a broad spectrum of learners.
Prior to her career as an educator, she worked as a trial attorney for over a decade, focusing primarily in the areas of criminal defense, employment law, and domestic relations. Heidi still maintains an active law license and volunteers with the Massachusetts Bar Association Pro Bono Panel.
Heidi received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Bradford College and her Juris Doctor from Suffolk University School of Law. Last summer, she received her certification as a Title IX Coordinator from the National Association of College and University Attorneys and is now working on completing her MicroMasters in Inclusive Teaching Practices from Fitchburg State University. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and two rescue dogs.
