Jerusha Nelson-Peterman, PhD, RDN, is a professor and currently serves as the chair of the Department of Nutrition and Health Studies at Framingham State University. Her research focuses primarily on dietary practices in vulnerable immigrant populations, including refugees. She studies how immigrant experiences combine with the U.S. food environment to affect dietary practices, risk of food insecurity and diet-related health outcomes in refugee and other immigrant families. She also works to develop nutrition education programs suited to the experiences and practices of immigrants, refugees, and other vulnerable families. Her PhD is in Food Policy and Applied Nutrition from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy of Tufts University.
