Kurt T. Steinberg, Ed.D. serves as Acting Executive Director & CEO of the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM), where he previously held the roles of Chief Operating Officer and Director of Collection Services. A respected leader in arts administration and nonprofit management, Steinberg brings more than 20 years of experience guiding cultural and educational institutions through strategic growth, operational excellence, and community engagement.

Prior to joining PEM, Steinberg was President of Montserrat College of Art and previously served for 12 years as Executive Vice President and Acting President of the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Throughout his career, he has championed creativity, innovation, diversity, and global collaboration in arts education.

An active lecturer and nonprofit leader, Steinberg has presented internationally on nonprofit finance, fundraising, community relations, and the role of art and design in innovation. He serves on several nonprofit and cultural boards and commissions. Steinberg holds a B.A. in International Relations and a Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University, and an Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership from Northeastern University.
