Laura Osterweis As a professor in the Art and Music Department at Framingham State University, I teach a wide variety of classes in design and studio art. My methodology involves filling the classroom with energy and excitement and encouraging students to listen, experiment, explore and participate. In addition to my career at FSU, I have taught at numerous institutions including Clark University, Emerson, Rhode Island School of Design, Salve Regina University, School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the University of Connecticut in Storrs. As a professional visual designer and artist, I work to create and communicate intriguing visual messages. I am particularly interested in exploring concepts of beauty and graphic expression through traditional and non-traditional media. My artwork has been exhibited internationally including in Athens, Greece; Boston; Brooklyn, NY; Cambridge, MA; New York City; Paris; and San Francisco. A paper about my creative process, "The Impermanence of Art and Beauty," has been published in the Athens Journal of Humanities and Arts. I believe strongly in maintaining a healthy work/life balance. My inspiration comes from a daily practice of Kundalini yoga and meditation, exploring nature and the interconnectedness of all things, and immersing myself in the study of art and music. Reading constantly fuels my desire to learn more.
