Angela Herbert, NIC, is an Assistant Professor in the American Sign Language Program. She has partnered with Best Buddies to help make community events more accessible across Massachusetts.

 

Alongside ASL interpreting students, Professor Herbert provided pro bono ASL interpreting at events such as the Evening of Opportunity Gala and Friendship Walks—including at Polar Park in Worcester and Providence College—ensuring Deaf and hard-of-hearing participants could fully engage.

 

The collaboration gave students meaningful real-world interpreting experience while advancing Best Buddies’ mission of inclusion, connection, and community.
