Romeiro is on her way to becoming a physician at UMass Chan Medical School
Lethycia Romeiro ‘23, Pre-Med
Currently attending UMass Chan Medical School to become a Physician
I chose Framingham State because of its smaller class size and affordability. When I toured campus, all the faculty and professors were so enthusiastic about teaching and helping students, it made a huge impact!
The thing I enjoyed most was the sense of community and the strong mentorship I received. I always felt that my professors genuinely cared about my success, both in and outside the classroom. I also loved the opportunities to be involved in leadership, and service—experiences that helped me grow not only as a student but as a person and were critical to my med school application.
The faculty at FSU were incredibly supportive as I pursued my dream of becoming a physician. Dr. Waetzig, the pre-health committee chair, gave me invaluable advice on applications, connected me with MCAT resources, and encouraged me whenever the process felt overwhelming. Thanks to the small class sizes, I was able to build close relationships with my professors, who were always willing to mentor me and provide strong letters of recommendation. Their support gave me the confidence and preparation I needed to take the next step, and I carry their lessons with me into medical school today. A highlight for me was having Dr. Waetzig attend my white coat ceremony—it meant so much to see that level of support continues even after graduation.
I would tell prospective students considering FSU that it is a place where you can find your voice and your path. You’ll have professors and peers who genuinely want you to succeed, and you’ll be given opportunities to pursue your goals in ways that fit you personally. If you’re looking for a place where you can get both a strong academic foundation and a true sense of belonging, FSU is a great choice.
