Program & Admissions Requirements

The Certificate in Bilingual Education assists candidates in developing the necessary knowledge and skills to teach in a bilingual/dual language program. This certificate program provides candidates with the coursework to fulfill the subject matter knowledge and field experience requirements for the Bilingual Educator Endorsement.

Student on campus
  • Submit an application for the Graduate Certificate online 
  • Applicants must have received a bachelor’s degree with a minimum 2.80 GPA from a regionally accredited college/university and must submit all official college-level transcripts. Applicants who studies out side of the United State must submit official transcripts and a course-by-course evaluation for US equivalency. 
  • Submit a 300-word essay describing your interest in the program and field, along with career goals

Learning Outcomes

The following goals will be achieved:

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the history, theories, models, and practices in bilingual and dual education.

  • Use and apply their knowledge of biliteracy and oral language development to create high-quality lessons, and integrated language, literacy, and content units including appropriate and valid assessments.

  • Develop and apply a lens of equity and linguistic justice in analyzing and constructing policies, programs, and through instructional design.

  • Demonstrate skills by applying this knowledge through a field experience in a bilingual/dual language setting.
