Application Deadlines:
Framingham State reviews applications on a rolling basis for students who wish to begin their studies in the spring (January), summer (May) and fall (September) semesters. The sooner that you apply and submit all required documentation, the sooner you will get an admissions decision. Preferred application deadlines for each enrollment semester – Spring (Extended to December 13), Summer (April 15) and fall (August 1) and necessary corresponding deadlines regarding materials and deposits thereafter.
Admissions Requirements
Create and submit an online application. Once all required sections have been completely filled out, applicants are encouraged to submit the application early to activate their application. Materials do not need to be uploaded at the time of application submission. Once submitted, all applicants will get an email confirmation with a link to the application portal where documents can be uploaded.
Transcripts from any and all colleges and universities (undergraduate, graduate, and/or doctoral coursework that may appear on any transcript) attended are required. Official transcripts can be sent via e-transcript or postal mail from the college/university you attended directly to Framingham State University. Transcripts sent by applicants or uploaded to the application will not be accepted. Please note, for colleges/universities attended outside of the United States, a course-by-course evaluation for US equivalency needs to be submitted along with official transcripts. Please refer to the International Graduate Applicant website for additional information on approved agencies.
For candidates having issues securing transcripts from their home institutions due to a closure or similar complication, candidates can make requests through the National Student Clearinghouse.
Transcripts should be sent via e-transcript to gradadmissions [at] framingham.edu (gradadmissions[at]framingham[dot]edu) or via postal mail to:
Graduate Admissions Processing Center, Dwight Hall Rm. 209
Framingham State University
PO Box 9101
Framingham, MA 01702
Two (2) recommendations must be submitted electronically through the Recommendation section of the application, with the exception of the Counseling Psychology program which requires three (3). Recommendation requests are sent via e-request to the individual reference contact directly, and they will log into a recommendation portal and fill out a brief cover form and upload a Word Doc or PDF document of their statement of support. Once a recommendation has been submitted, applicants get an email notification that it has been received.
Recommendations must come from a current/previous supervisor(s), academic instructor(s), or a mentor(s). Personal references (from co-workers, friends, family, etc.) will not be allowed or reviewed, and the Admissions Committee will ask for new recommendations in that case.
Applicants must write a 300 – 500 word statement expressing their interest in Framingham State, and their academic program of choice, and provide information regarding their professional/educational background along with professional and/or academic goals. This is the best way for applicants to introduce themselves to the academic program and admissions committee.
*MBA and Organizational Leadership applicants are required to submit an additional essay regarding their top three most substantial achievements. These achievements can be professional, academic, or military service.
This is a great way to show your professional background leading you towards your intended program.
Some programs will require prerequisite coursework to be completed prior to or concurrent with graduate-level coursework. Please view your program’s academic page for additional information on required prerequisite courses. These are verified through submission of transcripts as part of the full application.
