Why wait until graduation to begin your college journey?

Framingham State’s Jumpstart to College program provides you with the opportunity to earn college credit while also satisfying high school graduation requirements. This is a unique opportunity to experience college life, learn from university professors, and attend classes on Framingham State University’s campus before graduating high school. Some classes may also be available online.

You may opt to attend full-time and select a full slate of courses at Framingham State that will satisfy your remaining high school requirements while you also earn college credit. Or sign up part-time and take a class or two.

Courses are available during traditional school hours as well as late afternoon, early evening, and online.

There is a large variety of courses available based on your particular interests. The Office of Family Engagement will help you explore your options.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in high school or an approved homeschool program and in good social standing 
  • Have NOT completed a GED or received a high school diploma 
  • Completed at least sophomore year prior to enrollment 
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale 
  • Acknowledgement of participation by parent/guardian 

  • Approval from high school counselor or designee 

     

Costs

  • $1,000 per course 
  • $50 library fee per term

Note: a few courses have a $25 - $35 lab fee which will be applied at time of registration

 

Course Information 

  • Flexible scheduling including daytime, after school, online, and evening courses 
  • Work with the Office of Family Engagement to select appropriate courses 
  • Regular check-ins for academic support throughout the semester 
  • Some courses may require placement tests or prerequisites

Who is eligible to apply?

Students who have completed at least their sophomore year, met the GPA requirement, and receive approval from their high school are eligible. 

How much does the program cost?

The cost is $1,000 per course plus a $50 library fee per semester.

When can students take classes?

Courses are available during the day, after school, online, and in the evening.

Will the grades be part of a college record?

Yes, grades are recorded on an official Framingham State University transcript and become part of a permanent academic record.

Is there a limit to how many courses students can take?

Students taking high school classes and college courses at the same time can take up to 2 courses per semester. Those attending FSU full-time may take up to 4 courses.

Are there prerequisites for courses?

Some courses may require placement tests or completion of prerequisites before enrollment.

How do I see course options?

Each semester, Framingham State has a wide range of courses available to high school students in the arts, sciences, education, business, humanities and more. The Office of Family Engagement will walk you through available courses based on your interests.
