Homecoming & Family Weekend!
Friday, Oct. 25th and Saturday, Oct. 26th - throughout campus
Don't miss one of the best weekends of the year: Homecoming & Family Weekend! Things kick off with a fun launch event Friday at 2:30 p.m. on the McCarthy Center Patio. Highlights Friday also include Duck Quest 2024 (search for ducks around campus - win prizes), a family reception, fire pit and hot chocolate, a performance by Floor Lords Hip Hop Dance Crew, and the traditional Moonlight Breakfast from 9 to 11 p.m. in the Dining Commons!
The fun continues Saturday with special receptions for families and affinity groups, classroom experiences for family members, three planetarium shows, an alumni event with Coach Kelley, and an Improv Performance by the Hilltop Players. The football team, men's soccer team, and field hockey team will all be in action, so come out and support the players!

The Alan Feldman Week of Poetry: A Reading with Stephanie Burt

Stephanie Burt is a poet, literary critic, and professor with nine published books, including her collection of poems: We Are Mermaids (2022), in which “Mermaids, werewolves, and superheroes don’t just fret over divided natures and secret identities, but celebrate their wholeness, their unique abilities, and their erotic potential” (Gray Wolf Press).

Center for Inclusive Excellence
This workshop reviews the concepts of heterosexism, transnegativity, implicit bias, and microaggressions and their impact on intersecting identities of race, class, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Participants will also explore ways to mitigate individual bias and microaggressions through greater self-awareness.

Diversity Peer Influencers invite you to a special presentation on Freedom of Speech. This event aims to educate students about their rights and responsibilities regarding free speech.

FSU Planetarium, McAuliffe Center
With a combination of satellite imagery and computer models used by climate scientists, we explore the disturbed natural systems that regulate our warming planet. Visit a beautiful arctic island and witness the real changes human activity has inflicted upon its glaciers. The consequences of rising sea levels are vividly depicted with animations of our cities submerging.
Recommended for: Families and all ages. Parent/guardian supervision suggested.

In this workshop Misha Elashvili and colleagues present recent developments in VR technologies and their applications teaching and research, focusing on the surveying, documentation and virtual reconstruction of archeological sites and artifacts.
