Threat Assessment Team (TAT)

Framingham State University Threat Assessment Team (TAT)

IMMEDIATE DANGER- Call Framingham State University Police (FSUPD) at 508-626-4911 or Local Police at 911.  Example of a clear imminent/emergency situation is when a person of concern has a weapon, has indicated a threat to use it, and appears ready to act on an opportunity to do so or is a life-threatening threat to themselves or others.

Description:  TAT meets to evaluate reports of student threats to the safety of students and the campus community. Reports may come through various channels, including, but not limited to police reports, Dean of Student's Office contacts, phone calls, faculty or staff reports, emails, and/or conversations. The TAT assesses reports referred to the team's attention, and determines the appropriate response, action and/or continued monitoring. Referrals will be handled professionally, and in adherence with applicable federal and state laws.

Mission:  The Threat Assessment Team (TAT) is a multi-disciplinary team of faculty and staff dedicated to proactive, coordinated and planned identification, prevention, assessment, management, and reduction of interpersonal and behavioral threats to the safety of students and the campus community. TAT aims to safeguard the community by addressing threats which are violent or potentially violent behavior disrupting the learning environment. Threat assessment is designed to be a preventative process used to identify warning signs and intervention tactics, both proactive and responsive.  All cases are triaged and the most serious cases are managed first. All cases, regardless of the immediacy, will be reviewed and managed in the manner most appropriate for the situation.

Meetings:  The Dean of Students convenes the Threat Assistant Team (TAT), on a situational basis or at the request of any TAT member. Members of the team hold Mondays during the academic year from 2:30-4:00pm as needed. The team also meets during academic break periods as needed to address threats or potential threats.

  • Dean of Students (Chair)
  • FSU Police Department Deputy Chief
  • Associate Dean of Students for Student Life
  • Assistant Dean of Students for Community Standards, Outreach and Support
  • Coordinator of Community Standards
  • Director of Counseling
