Framingham State University has been ranked among the top regional universities in the North in the 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, placing it in a tie with Fitchburg State University for the highest position among Massachusetts’ state universities in the category.

Framingham State is ranked No. 76 (tie) among Regional Universities in the North. The University is also ranked No. 20 (tie) among Top Public Schools in the Regional Universities in the North category.

The 2027 rankings include institutions from across the Northeast, with Regional Universities defined by U.S. News as schools that offer a broad range of undergraduate programs as well as master’s-level programs.

Framingham State’s placement reflects the University’s continued focus on student success, affordability and outcomes. FSU is a public university where more than half of undergraduate students are the first in their families to attend college, and the University has expanded its commitment to making a college education accessible to Massachusetts families through initiatives such as the Framingham State Tuition Promise.

The University also continues to emphasize career preparation and student outcomes through internships, work-based learning, graduate programs and opportunities that connect classroom learning with professional experience.
