Framingham State University is proud to announce the Framingham State Tuition Promise, a bold new commitment ensuring that a high-quality public education is within reach for more students across Massachusetts.

Beginning in Spring 2026, any admitted Massachusetts undergraduate student whose household income is $85,000 or less will pay zero in tuition and fees after applying their financial aid grants. This does not include expenses like housing and meals, but additional financial aid is available for those who qualify.

Eligibility Requirements 

To be eligible for the Framingham State Tuition Promise, you must:

  • Be a Massachusetts resident
  • Have a Household income of $85,000 or less
  • Complete the FAFSA
  • Start full-time, in a degree program at FSU
  • Have not earned a prior bachelor's degree

There is no added paperwork or extra hurdles to apply for the Framingham State Promise. Simply submit your admissions application to Framingham State and complete your FAFSA, and you will be notified if you are eligible when you receive your financial aid notification.

A new study from George Washington University’s Center for Education and the Workforce shows that the typical worker with a four-year degree earns 70% higher pay than someone with only a high school diploma.

All you have to do is submit your admissions application to Framingham State and complete your FAFSA. We will take it from there. No other paperwork is required.

Yes, current students returning to Framingham State in Fall 2026 who meet the eligibility requirements will have 100% of their mandatory tuition & fees covered by state and federal grants. They only need to complete their FAFSA to earn the benefit.

Through a combination of federal grants (including Pell), state grants such as MassGrantPlus, and Framingham State resources. 

Yes, any full-time students, including first-year and transfer students, entering in Spring or Fall 2026 will qualify for the Framingham State Tuition Promise if they meet the eligibility requirements. 

Yes, our Financial Aid Office will review all sources of aid/scholarship the student is eligible to receive and apply the funding accordingly.

Eligible students will be notified of their status through their financial aid notification, which will also provide information on other forms of assistance you may be eligible for to cover housing and meals.

Yes. There are other fees for items such as housing, meal plans, books, and other expenses that are not covered by the Tuition Promise.  Additional aid is usually available to help reduce the cost of these expenses. 

Although you will not qualify for the Framingham State Tuition Promise, you may still qualify for significant financial aid. Ultimately, it’s important that every family, regardless of income, complete their FAFSA so they can receive a financial aid package.
