As a Flight Director in FSU's Christa McAuliffe Center, Alix leads kids on a simulated Mission to Mars

Alix Ayoub ‘26 is a Psychology major with an education minor. She works as a Flight Director at Framingham State’s Christa McAuliffe Center for Integrated Science Learning and is also the Events Coordinator for the Student Government Association (SGA).

I am really interested in behavioral science, and I'm also, honestly, just a huge nerd. Psychology gives me an avenue into almost any subject that I am interested in, especially since it is so versatile as a science and humanities field. I've had some really amazing professors here at FSU in the Psychology and Philosophy Department. As someone who loves learning, I've enjoyed some great classes during my time here so far.

Coming to work at the McAuliffe Center has felt like a full-circle moment I've been so lucky to experience, because my middle school field trip to the Center had such an impact on me. I recently had another amazing moment when the teachers who brought me here when I was 11 came to do another mission this year, and I was able to be the flight director for their new classes of kids. It was amazing to see my own experience from a new perspective.

I try to be as involved as possible on campus. I am the events coordinator for Student Government, which is a wonderful way to take charge of what I really want to see on this campus. My favorite event I've run this semester has got to be Spicy Bingo, which was a collaboration with the SEALS, from the wellness center. Together, we worked to promote sexual education, and president-elect Cesar Matos (who also works at the McAuliffe Center with me) and I got to MC the bingo event! This annual event had an amazing turnout this year, and I find it so important that this topic got discussed.

While I do hope to continue to study in the field of psychology, I plan to pursue my elementary education licensure once I'm done with my bachelor's degree, and plan to earn at least another degree in the future. My goal overall is to work within my community and make it a better place than how I found it.

I am from the Levant area, which is the part of the Middle East that is Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and Jordan. I haven't had the opportunity to go yet, but Syria is a large part of me, and I want to be able to experience that part of my identity firsthand soon.
