How to Apply

You’re a transfer applicant if:

• You enrolled in college-level coursework (after your high school graduation),
• You’re a service member or veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, or
• You already received your bachelor’s degree from a college or university (including FSU) but you are choosing to apply for a second bachelor’s degree.

Students interested in pursuing a second bachelor's degree at Framingham State University should consult with the Admissions Office to learn more about eligibility and program options.

Before applying as a transfer student, you’ll want to learn about our application process, credit and GPA requirements, how your courses may transfer, and more. You can find this information within our transfer pages.

*Students who have previously applied to Framingham State, but did not enroll, should complete our Reactivation Form. After receipt, the admissions staff will contact you regarding specific application requirements. 

*Students who were previously enrolled and are looking to re-enroll, should visit https://www.framingham.edu/academics/registrar/readmission-framingham-state.

1. Complete your application.

Complete the FSU Application. On the application you’ll choose a major, list your extracurricular activities, work experience, honors/awards, and courses in progress.

If you haven’t attended college continuously, you’ll need to provide a resumé or description of activities which accounts for all time periods since graduation from high school.

If you’re applying through MassTransfer you should use the FSU Application. Eligibility is based on enrollment in an approved pathway at a Massachusetts community college. Learn more about MassTransfer.

2. Pay the application fee.

When you submit the application, you’ll need to pay a non-refundable fee of $50 or provide an application fee waiver. The application fee or application fee waiver must be submitted in order for your application to be reviewed.

We provide an application fee waiver if you participate in an official campus visit or you may apply for a fee waiver through NACAC. The application fee is waived for MassTransfer and Military Applicants.

3. Send us your transcripts.

Official transcripts from all colleges or universities you've attended are required, regardless if courses were finished or credit received. Failure to disclose this information may result in denial of admission or retroactive administrative withdrawal from the University without refund or course credits.

When you apply, ask that these institutions send your official transcripts directly to our office. A decision will not be made by the Admissions Committee without official transcripts. They can be sent electronically through the vendor your institution uses; or they can be mailed directly from your institution to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT

We need a final, official transcript from your high school to confirm you’ve graduated. If you completed the high school equivalency exam (GED/HiSET), we’ll need your official score report and an official high school transcript for the period high school was attended. If you complete an associate degree prior to transferring, we do not need proof of high school graduation.

INTERNATIONAL TRANSCRIPT

A certified transcript evaluation by a recognized credentialing agency is required. The evaluation must be completed using official transcripts, and include grade and credit hour equivalents for each course completed (course-by-course). MILITARY TRANSCRIPT/node/4833

If you’re a service member or veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, we need your official military transcript. FSU evaluates your transcript for academic credit based on recommendations from the American Council on Education (ACE).

• Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy – Joint Services Transcript (JST)
• Air Force – Community College of the Air Force

STANDARDIZED TESTING POLICY

FSU is test-optional, meaning you may choose to apply with or without SAT or ACT scores.

If you choose to submit SAT or ACT scores, official test results must be sent to FSU directly from the testing agency.

COLLEGE LEVEL EXAMINATION PROGRAM & ADVANCED PLACEMENT

CLEP and AP programs enable students to earn college credit by examination. Official score reports should be submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the time of enrollment so they can be formally evaluated for credit. FSU’s score code is 3519.

• CLEP – Credit is awarded for scores of 50 or higher.
• AP – Credit is awarded for scores of three (3) or higher (AP Exam and FSU Course Equivalencies (PDF)).

4. See if you have additional requirements.

If you plan to pursue a certain major or you’re an international student, you may have a few more things to do.

INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS

You should be aware of some additional requirements.

MILITARY APPLICANTS

NURSING APPLICANTS

You need to be a licensed registered nurse (RN) and have completed an Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing. More information is available through the Nursing Department.

5. Check your application status.

Once you’ve submitted your application, use the admissions portal to check its status. It is your responsibility to have all required materials forwarded to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by the deadline. We will not accept transcripts or score reports sent via fax.
