Mission
The Center for Digital Humanities promotes digital humanities teaching and scholarship across the Humanities at Framingham State University, throughout the MetroWest region, and beyond. The Center offers training opportunities in digital humanities and assists in the building, housing, and promotion of digital humanities projects. In carrying out this mission, the Center for Digital Humanities works with multiple constituencies, including:
- Faculty and students in traditional Arts & Humanities departments and in the Humanities-inflected social sciences
- Regional archives and cultural organizations seeking training and opportunities to develop shared digital humanities projects and resources
- Regional high school teachers seeking training and opportunities to develop shared digital humanities projects and resources
- Regional employers seeking to employ students with digital humanities backgrounds
- Regional, national, and international organizations focused on digital humanities
THE CENTER FOR DIGITAL HUMANITIES’ PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVES INCLUDE:
- Training faculty and students in digital humanities research and pedagogy
- Hosting formal and informal activities on digital humanities topics, including workshops and lecture series
- Supporting and hosting digital humanities projects by faculty and students
- Collaborating with regional schools, archives, and cultural organizations on digital humanities initiatives
- Applying for external funding for digital humanities projects and initiatives
- Advocating for the digital humanities at Framingham State University and throughout the MetroWest region
