Involvement Opportunities

Faculty, staff, and students are welcome to represent their community and share programming ideas by joining the CIE Programming Committee. The committee works together to plan and promote events that celebrate cultures, identity, and other diverse student backgrounds on campus. Traditional events include:

Workshops

Time: 30-90 minute depending on need and size of the group unless otherwise noted below.

Note: The sessions below are not all inclusive and can be tailored or designed to meet the needs of the group.

How to request a session?

  1. Contact CIE at least 3-6 weeks in advance via email at inclusivex [at] framingham.edu (inclusivex[at]framingham[dot]edu) and copy Emma Laurie at elaurie [at] framingham.edu (elaurie[at]framingham[dot]edu).
  2. Provide session title interest
  3. Provide a few dates of interest and the timeframe for program (30, 60, or 90-minutes)

Current Workshop Offerings

LGBTQ+ Safe Zone

Learn how to create more welcoming and affirming environments for LGBTQ+ students, colleagues, and community members. This interactive training explores inclusive language, gender identity and expression, allyship, and practical strategies for fostering belonging. Open to faculty, staff, student organizations, and campus groups.

Cultural Competency

Develop the knowledge and skills to engage effectively across cultures and identities. This workshop encourages participants to reflect on their own perspectives, increase cultural awareness, and strengthen their ability to foster inclusive and respectful interactions in academic and professional settings.

Civil Discourse

Strengthen your ability to navigate difficult conversations with empathy and respect. This interactive workshop explores strategies for active listening, constructive dialogue, and engaging with differing perspectives while fostering an inclusive campus environment where everyone feels heard and valued.

Tribal Member-in-Residence

Engage with CIE's Tribal Member-in-Residence, Shani Turner, to learn about the history, culture, and contemporary experiences of the Nipmuc Nation and other Indigenous communities in the region. Presentations and educational discussions provide opportunities to deepen understanding of Indigenous perspectives.
