An Affordable Education – No Matter Your Budget
You may quickly dismiss the dream of earning a college education because you see the posted sticker price and immediately assume higher education - your ticket to a brighter future - is out of reach. Even at an affordable public school like Framingham State, the prospect of paying nearly $12,000 a year in tuition and fees feels daunting.
But the fact of the matter is very few students pay the full price at FSU. And students who are Pell Grant eligible - more than half the current Framingham State student population – pay nothing in tuition and fees.

So What's It Going to Cost YOU?
Now that you know the average, let’s take it a step further and figure out YOUR situation.
Select from the three scenarios below based on your personal situation, and then use the chart to figure out how much in grants and aid you should expect based on family income. It’s important to keep in mind that the numbers below are estimates using household incomes for a family of 4. These numbers will vary based on factors such as family size and assets, but should give you a good idea of where you slot in. They also don’t account for merit scholarships, which can reduce your cost further if you qualify.

Group A | Group B | Group C | Group D
Household income up to $85,000 per year | Household income between $85,000 and $100,000 per year | Household income between $100,000 and $150,000 per year | Household income over $150,000
Grants | $19,120 | $12,445 | $5,970
Loans | $5,500 | $7,500 | $5,550 | $5,550 |
Your Direct Cost* | $1,100 | $5,785 | $14,260 | $20,230 |
* Direct costs include tuition, fees, housing and meal plan, which will be billed directly to you. Living on-campus examples are based on the Value Plus food plan (most common) and a standard double room. Your cost may be higher if you choose a more expensive room or meal plan. You should also consider indirect costs such as books and supplies, a laptop, personal expenses and transportation which may cost you approximately $3,500-$4,500 per year.

DIG EVEN DEEPER
TWO OPTIONS TO GET BETTER ESTIMATES
Hopefully the above information has given you a good sense of what you can expect to pay out of pocket to attend Framingham State. If you want to dig even deeper, you can complete one of the two options below.
The estimator takes approximately 10 minutes to complete if you know your annual income.
After you put in your information, note if you are eligible for a Pell Grant. If you are a Massachusetts resident who is Pell Eligible, you are in Group A above and pay nothing in tuition and fees, and receive an extra $1,200 allowance per year to pay for books. If you are not eligible for Pell, note your Student Aid Index (SAI). If you are not eligible for Pell but your SAI is less than $15,001 you may be eligible for a reduction of your tuition and fees of at least 50% (often more). You will be in Group B.
If you have a bit more time, our Net Price Calculator will provide even more detail including your likelihood of receiving a merit scholarship and will determine your eligibility for a Pell Grant to get the closest estimate of your full financial aid offer.
