Graduate & Continuing Education Costs

Graduate and continuing-education students are billed per course, not per year. Most students take one or two courses per semester.

|---|---|---|---|
| Graduate (most programs) | $1,010 | $571 | $1,581 |

Framingham State also publishes a separate per-credit-hour rate for Day Division registration: graduate students pay $280 per credit as Massachusetts residents, $419 under the New England Regional rate, or $1,175 out-of-state or as an international student. Which rate applies depends on how your program registers you, the Office of Graduate and Continuing Education can confirm the rate for your specific courses.
Graduate students may qualify for federal financial aid by completing the FAFSA, including Direct Unsubsidized Loans and work-study. Some programs offer graduate assistantships that include tuition remission and a stipend, contact the Office of Financial Aid for program-specific eligibility.
Course Audits
Auditing a course, taking it for no credit or grade, costs $1,000 per course through the Division of Graduate and Continuing Education. Massachusetts senior citizens audit at a reduced rate: $350 per DGCE course, or $250 per Day Division course. Audits require the instructor's consent, and online classes may not be audited. Audited courses appear on your transcript, but no credit is awarded and auditors may not actively participate in coursework.

Waivers, Exemptions & Third-Party Payment
Tuition waivers, vouchers, and course certificates do not apply to directed studies, internships, field studies, noncredit courses, practica, or arranged courses. Eligibility for a tuition exemption must be established before you register — refunds are not granted retroactively. If you're paying with a waiver, voucher, course certificate, loan, financial aid, or third-party payment, you can register after providing Student Accounts with your payment information.
Massachusetts senior citizens (60+) can take undergraduate credit courses tuition-free through the Division of Graduate and Continuing Education, paying only a $506 program support fee plus any lab fees. A Senior Citizen Tuition Waiver form and proof of age are required. To use the waiver for graduate courses, you must be matriculated in an FSU master's degree program, graduate certificate program, or the Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Licensure Program.
Veterans and active military using DVA benefits pay the same $506 program support fee plus lab fees, and must submit a DD214 and proof of residency (active personnel submit military orders instead). Qualification for the veteran's tuition waiver follows the Board of Higher Education memorandum of November 11, 1992. Learn more about Framingham State's Veteran Services.
Employees of partner companies enrolling in credit-bearing DGCE courses receive a 10% corporate discount. Contact the Division of Graduate and Continuing Education to confirm your employer is on the partner list. Third-party payment: if your course costs are covered by a grant, loan, state agency, company, or the military, present an approved letter of authorization at registration stating what costs the agency will cover and where to submit bills for payment.
