Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply to Framingham State University?

Freshmen applicants should apply to Framingham State through the Common App or FSU's application.  Transfer applicants should use FSU’s application.  You will need to submit your high school transcript and official college/university transcripts. There is a $50 application fee. FSU practices rolling admissions, and most applicants receive a decision within two to four weeks of a complete application.

What are the admission requirements for Framingham State University?

To join our community, you should be on track to complete 17 college-preparatory courses in each academic subject. Each course is equivalent to one year-long class. 

English: 4 courses 
Math: 4 courses (Algebra I & II and Geometry or Trigonometry, or comparable coursework), including mathematics during the final year of high school 
Sciences: 3 courses (from Natural Science and/or Physical Science and/or Technology/Engineering), including 3 courses with laboratory work 
Social Sciences: 2 courses (including 1 course in U.S. History) 
Foreign Languages: 2 courses (in a single language) 
Electives: 2 courses (from the above subjects or from the Arts & Humanities or Computer Sciences) 

Students must meet the minimum GPA of a 2.0 in order to be considered for admission. Meeting the minimum standards does not guarantee admission. 

Admission is determined in accordance with the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education’s Undergraduate Admissions Standards for the Massachusetts State University System and the University of Massachusetts. Learn more about the DHE’s admissions standards.

Is Framingham State University hard to get into?

Framingham State University accepts approximately 85% of applicants, making it an accessible institution for students who meet academic requirements. FSU is committed to serving first-generation college students, 51% of the student body are the first in their families to attend college.

Does Framingham State accept transfer students?

Yes. Framingham State accepts transfer students from community colleges and four-year institutions. Transfer applicants must submit college transcript(s) from all schools attended. FSU has articulation agreements with several Massachusetts community colleges that streamline the transfer process.

What graduate programs does Framingham State offer?

Framingham State offers more than 40 graduate programs, including master's degrees in education, business administration, counseling psychology, nursing, food and nutrition, and human resources. Most programs are designed for working adults with evening and hybrid course options available.
