Use the Library

The Henry Whittemore Library is part of the Minuteman Library Network. With a library card from the Whittemore Library, you can borrow books from any library in the network! To search for books in the Minuteman Network, use the Minuteman Library Network Catalog

Getting a Library Card: As of the Fall of 2020, all new FSU ID cards have a Library privileges barcode number embedded in them. If you have an FSU ID card that was issued prior to this time, please stop by the Access Services desk.

Borrowing Periods: For students, the borrowing period for books is 3 weeks. For faculty and staff, the borrowing period is 90 days. 

Getting Books from Other Libraries: Use ComCat or WorldCat to find books at libraries in Massachusetts or worldwide! 

The Henry Whittemore Library offers a number of online databases and journal collections to students, faculty, and staff of Framingham State University. 

The Database A-Z List lists databases alphabetically and can be sorted by subject or database type. 

Databases can be accessed both on- and off-campus. When accessing databases off-campus, you will be prompted to log-in with your Blackboard credentials.

The Henry Whittemore Library provides computers for students on the first level of the Library. 

Printers can be found on the first level of the Library, in the Periodicals Department on the Upper Mezzanine level and near the IT Help Desk on the Lower Mezzanine level. Contact IT to set up printing from a laptop. For more information, see IT's page about printing

Wifi is available throughout the Library.

The Library offers a number of services for faculty to support teaching and research. 

Teaching services:

  • Course Reserves - Course reserves allows faculty to make books, dvds, cds, articles and more available to students through the Library. The Henry Whittemore Library is a member of the Minuteman Library Network. Anyone can visit the Library and anyone with a Minuteman Library Network card may borrow or request books in the main collection. Alumni may obtain free library cards upon request.

The Henry Whittemore Library provides two computers for use by the general public: one is located on the first level of the Library and one is located in the Curriculum Library area on the Upper Mezzanine level.

Curriculum Library materials can be used in the Library but only Framingham State University students, faculty, and staff may borrow them. Alumni may borrow curriculum materials but are limited to three items at a time. 

Database usage is limited to Framingham State University students, faculty, and staff.
