Framingham State Education Programs Receive National Recognition from Specialized Professional Associations

Feb 4, 2021

Ten of Framingham State University's initial licensure areas within the Education Department have successfully gone through the process of achieving full national recognition from the specialized professional associations connected to each program.

Achieving national recognition involves going beyond what is required in order to demonstrate to prospective students that your program meets the very highest standards.

"As the nation's oldest public college founded for the education of teachers, training the state's best educators is a part of our historical mission," says President F. Javier Cevallos. "Our education programs are second to none and achieving national recognition is further evidence of that. I congratulate all of our staff, faculty members, and program coordinators who worked so hard on this process."

Dr. Kelly Kolodny, professor in the College of Education & Social and Behavioral Sciences, is currently coordinating the overall accreditation process overseen by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

"The accreditation process requires a tremendous amount of work so that you can demonstrate the high quality of your programs," says Kolodny. "Every initial licensure program that had the option to go through the process received national recognition."
