The Fulbright-Terra Foundation Award
Erika Schneider taught an undergraduate course on American art history and a graduate course on the representation of the struggling artist in America. She also advised three graduate independent studies at Radboud University.
Associate Professor, Art History
"My travels to Dutch cities, including Amsterdam, the Hague, Rotterdam, Delft, Utrecht, Maastricht's-Hertogenbosch, Laren, Otterlo, Arnhem, and Nuenen, and nearby countries, allowed me to visit museum collections and architectural sites which inform my teaching and scholarship at Framingham State University."
U.S. Fulbright Scholar
Shin Freedman was selected as a U.S. Fulbright Scholar for the academic year 2016-2017. She went to China to teach graduate-level courses in library and information science at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China.
Head of Scholarly Resources & Collections for the Henry Whittemore Library
"One of the most memorable and rewarding experiences during my Fulbright in China was lecturing on my research throughout the country. In addition to teaching my graduate and Ph.D. students at ZJU, my host university, I was also invited to and lectured at six other prominent universities."
Fulbright Specialist Grant
Food and Nutrition Professor Susan Massad was awarded a six-week Fulbright Specialist Program Grant to go to Al Quds University in Abu Dis, Palestine from October-November 2013. She taught several nutrition and public health courses, completed research, and was a keynote speaker at The Palestinian Conference on Health Sciences: “Towards Promoting and Developing a Quality-Health Care.”
Professor, Food and Nutrition
"On a day off, I met up with some volunteers (the Friends of Al Walaja) and participated in an olive harvest. Those six weeks were the richest and most rewarding experience of my 25+ year teaching career."
Fulbright U.S. Scholar Grant
Audrey Kali received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program Grant to teach at the University of Malawi in Zomba, Malawi from January-September 2016. Dr. Kali taught several courses in the Language and Communication Department and assisted with curriculum program development and community outreach.
Professor, Communication Arts
“One of the highlights of my grant period was being able to help students with a research project on the effects of child labor in mountain villages. The extent to which these students are motivated to help their developing country is impressive and admirable."
Fulbright Scholarship Award
Yaser Najjar was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship Award to attend the University of Bahrain in February-July 2007. He taught a senior level course in urban transportation planning, developed the curriculum for a master's degree in urban planning, and conducted research on traffic congestion and driving behavior within roundabouts in Manama.
Dean of Graduate Studies
"I was very impressed with the knowledge that Bahraini students have about the history and geography of the US in addition to their proficiency in English. This approved how English became an international language and how a great nation like the US became global. I wish our American students appreciate the status of English and the U.S. in the world’s affairs."
