Monthly Payment Plan
Framingham State offers the option to enroll in an interest-free payment plan through Nelnet/Tuition Management Systems (TMS). This option allows students and their families to make a series of ten payments over the course of the academic year – five payments for the fall semester and five payments for the spring semester. There is a registration fee that must be paid when signing up for this option. For more information, please visit Nelnet/TMS at www.framingham.afford.com or call 800-722-4867.
PLUS Loan
- This is an unsubsidized loan option for parents of dependent students and for graduate/professional students. PLUS loans help pay for educational expenses up to the cost of attendance minus all other financial assistance. Interest is accrued during all periods. The interest rate is fixed at 5.30% for the 2020-2021 academic year.
- The borrower must not have an adverse credit history.
- To apply for a PLUS, please visit www.studentaid.gov.
- Please note, if applying for a PLUS loan, the credit decision on PLUS loan applications is only valid for 90 days from the date of the application. If funds are not disbursed to the school within those 90 days, your credit will have to be reassessed. For this reason any PLUS loans for the 2020-2021 academic year should not be applied for any earlier than early June, 2020.
Alternative Loans
Framingham State recommends that students exhaust all federal and family resources, including the PLUS Loan, before pursuing a private alternative loan. Government loans are usually less expensive and offer more favorable repayment terms. For more information about alternative loans, please click here.
