Laptop Requirement

All students at FSU are required to own a wireless laptop. Students may bring or purchase any laptop, but the University secures excellent pricing on a University recommended system each year. Through our purchase program, you can take advantage of special pricing on hardware that we have vetted for durability, reliability, and supportability. Click here for information about minimum specifications if you have a laptop already, are looking to purchase, or want to learn more info about our recommended model laptop

Free and Discounted Software

Do not pay too much for software. There is software provided to our campus community at exceptional (sometimes free) pricing due to our negotiated campus agreements. Some software can be downloaded through FSU and others purchased at a discount. You will be required to provide proof of your academic affiliation during the registration process so use your Framingham State email address to register. ITS recommends installing Microsoft Office, which many courses will utilize, on a personal laptop. Microsoft Office can be downloaded for free when signing in with your student email through Office.com. Other software may be required at the professors discretion. Information about discounted software, can be found here.

Printing

FSU has a Web-Based print management system, MyPrintCenter, which helps students monitor their print jobs, enables access to networked printers, and increases document security. You can find more information on how and where to print here.

FSUgo

Download FSUgo, a free app for Apple and Android devices, or access the app features at m.framingham.edu. FSUgo features: a campus directory, event and calendar listings, news, athletic game schedules, library services, the campus map, social media, dining options and other useful information for students, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors.

OneDrive Backup

It is never a good time to lose all your course work, favorite pictures or any other document on your hard drive but, hard drives do fail. Back up your data by signing into Microsoft One Drive with your student email.

Student Employment

Each semester, ITS employs roughly 20-30 students. Full-time students from any major are encouraged to apply. No technical experience is required. Employment can be at the Technology Resource Centers, Networking, or Education Technology Office. Student employees have the opportunity to learn and grow within the organization through a tiered position program. On average, our student staff work anywhere between 10 and 20 hours a week. Most hiring takes place over the summer with a training prior to the start of the semester. Additional hiring takes place during the semester as needed. Find our job description and apply here.
