FSU joins organization that makes it easier for out-of-state students to attend remotely

Nov 14, 2022

Framingham State University has been accepted as an institutional participant in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA), clearing the path for out-of-state students to more easily access online courses at FSU.

SARA increases administrative efficiency and lowers the costs of obtaining authorization to provide postsecondary distance education in states that join. These benefits result in increased access to partner institutions that are able to make their academic programs more widely available and accept enrollments from students in all states except for California without additional work to seek state authorization.

Why NC-SARA Matters:

  • Improves distance education program quality nationwide.
  • Makes it easier for students to access distance education programs across state lines.
  • Reduces costs and bureaucracy for states and institutions.
  • Improves coordination between states on higher education opportunities.
  • Provides valuable oversight of distance education programs.
  • Shares out-of-state learning experience data like clinical hours and practice teaching.

Framingham State offers undergraduate and graduate online programs in 18 subject areas.
