Program Planning

The Department provides a number of resources to help Biology majors plan their course of study. First and foremost, all of the students have access to the faculty. Each faculty member acts a resource and advocate for our students. It is strongly recommended that students meet with their designated advisor at least twice during the academic year. Students are also encouraged to talk with particular faculty members who have experience and/or research interests in fields that students are curious about.

Most Biology courses are offered only once a year, either in the fall or the spring.  Consequently, knowing which semester your required Biology courses are taught is essential to good program planning.  See the Schedule of Courses for details.

The Department has put together a Sample Course Plan that would fulfill the general requirements of the Biology major. It incorporates the entire core curriculum and leaves room for electives needed for specific concentrations.  Biology major worksheets are also provided by the Advising Center.
