Priscilla Galvin Sociology Scholarship
The Department of Sociology & Criminology at Framingham State University is honored to announce the establishment of the Priscilla Galvin Sociology Scholarship. Made possible by the generous donation of $25,000 by Robert Galvin, Priscilla’s husband, this scholarship fund will award five $1,000 scholarships annually to support students majoring in Sociology. Current and prospective students interested in the scholarship can find more information here.
The scholarship is established in memory of Professor Priscilla Galvin, a graduate of Framingham State University and a longtime faculty member in the Department of Sociology.
Priscilla Galvin first joined the FSU community as an education major in 1962. She left FSU to raise her children and returned to pursue her degree in sociology in 1994. After she graduated in 1997, she enrolled in a graduate program in sociology at Boston College. After completing her M.A. in Sociology, she joined the faculty at FSU as a visiting lecturer. She taught at FSU in the sociology department for over ten years, retiring in 2010. Professor Galvin particularly enjoyed teaching courses in the department’s challenging research methods sequence. She was an enthusiastic, caring, highly competent, and dedicated instructor, advisor, and colleague.
Parties interested in contributing to the Priscilla Galvin Scholarship fund are welcome and encouraged to do so online or by mail:
ONLINE: Go to www.framingham.edu/give. Under “Designation” select “View all Giving Opportunities.” In the upper right corner of the pop up box, there is a search field. Type in “Galvin” and it will bring up the fund to select.
BY MAIL: Checks, made payable to FSU Foundation, Inc., can be mailed to the following address. On the memo line, and/or in enclosed correspondence, please indicate the gift is for the Priscilla Galvin Sociology Scholarship.
