Candace J. Albertian

Program Advisor, TESL Practicum Supervisor, Visiting Instructor

Email: calbertian@framingham.edu

BS, Keene State College; MEd, Framingham State University; CAGS, University of New England

Candace J. Albertian is the M.Ed. in TESL Program Graduate Student Advisor, as well as the University TESL Practicum Supervisor. She also teaches a TESL graduate course.

Candace is an alumna of the TESL Master’s Program at FSU, having enrolled with the very first cohort. (She had actually called the Dean of Graduate programs encouraging Framingham State to start a TESL Master's program and a year later they did!)

She has spent her entire career working with both English Language Learners, and teachers of ELLs. She fell into her career quite by accident while completing her elementary education student teaching experience. She was asked to work with a group of refugee children who did not speak a single word of English and she was hooked!  She has worked with ELLs from kindergarten through high school and college, and in community adult education programs.

Candace has taught ELLs in several Massachusetts public school districts from grade 5-12 and served as lead teacher and ELL Coordinator for Keefe Regional Technical School for many years. While at Keefe she was a DESE trainer and taught courses around the state to teachers seeking endorsements in ESL. She left Keefe to pursue other opportunities after serving as a member of their administrative team responsible for all adult education programs in the district including their 2000 student night school, GED (now HiSET), Post Graduate, and both day school and evening ESL programs.

She holds a BS in elementary education, a master's degree in TESL, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (C.A.G.S.) in Educational Leadership. She is thrilled to be working with the graduate students at Framingham State, to share her experiences, knowledge of English Language Learners, and to help teachers deliver the best instruction possible for their ELLs.
