Important Update about Counseling Center Services 1/13/2022 - 1/30/2022
January 13, 2022
Dear Students,
The FSU Counseling Center is following Covid-19 protocols in parallel to FSU administration rules. Since the University is remote through 1/30/2022, the Counseling Center will also be conducting all sessions remotely via Zoom or phone, including Mandatory, Same-Day Consultations, and urgent care.
To schedule an appointment, please contact the Center by calling 508-626-4640. All voicemail messages are responded to promptly during business hours.
Important Notices about Counseling Center Services during the COVID Pandemic and Resources for Racial Trauma
Dear Students,
The staff at the FSU Counseling Center is a group of highly qualified and dedicated mental health practitioners and support staff who strive to provide effective and compassionate mental health care to any matriculated undergraduate or graduate student. We are happy to serve you and hope that you will see us as a friendly and useful resource. If you are a student, we are eager to help you develop or maintain life skills that will help you succeed at FSU and beyond. For parents and families, faculty, and staff, we are happy to offer consultation and action planning for any student you are concerned about.
We want to communicate our best wishes to you, your family, friends, and community, as your life is likely disrupted and adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Counseling Center is open for in person and telehealth therapy sessions. The Counseling Center requires all who enter to be masked regardless of vaccination status. Please visit Emotional Wellness and COVID-19 for more information on maintaining emotional well-being during the pandemic.
The mission of the Counseling Center is to support the psychological and emotional well-being of students. The Center joins the mission of the University by fostering a positive educational and co-curricular experience for students by supporting diversity in all its forms, promoting free inquiry and respectful exchange of ideas, supporting critical and creative thinking, and ethical decision making.
As such, the Counseling Center staff is committed to supporting our students and community as we mourn the losses of more Black lives, and grapple with a range of emotions, including sadness and anger, that racism and injustice engender. Racism is real, and racial trauma that effects all people of color, and disproportionally Black people, is real. Please see our Racial Trauma & Racial Justice Resources page.
We hope that your experience with us will be productive and helpful and we welcome your feedback at any time about how we might improve our services.
On behalf of the FSU Counseling Center staff, we wish you all the best during your time at FSU. Please let us know if we can help.
Best Wishes,
The FSU Counseling Center Staff

Same-Day Consultations:
During the Fall and Spring academic semesters, Same-Day Consultations provide quicker access to services for students who need urgent support, such as help with problem-solving a specific issue. These are designed to be goal-oriented so that the student can leave with a set of next steps.
Please keep in mind:
- If it is an emergency, please use the resources at Crisis/Emergency Support
- Same-Day Consultation appointments are 20-30 minutes in length and are first-come, first-served
- This is a one-time consultation and is not meant for ongoing psychotherapy
- Any follow-ups may be with a different clinician
- It will help to have an identified goal in mind
